오래전부터 생각만 해오다가 드디어 블로그 운영에 첫 발을 내디뎠습니다.
우선 제 개인적인 소개와 어떤 컨텐츠를 담게 될 블로그인지 설명드리겠습니다.
저는 한국에서 중학교 3학년까지 교육을 받고 어릴때 부터 미국 유학의 꿈이 커서 고등학교 때 미국으로 건너와 공부를 하게 된 학생입니다. 이 글을 쓰고 있는 날 (2018년 3월 26일) 기준으로 현재 대학교 2학년 2학기를 재학 중입니다. 많은 분들이 미국 유학생이라 하면 "와 돈 많은 집 아들인가 보네.. 금수저라 좋겠다" 등 금수저 집안에서 태어난 자식이라고 간주하시지만 본인은 직장인 아버지와 자그마한 개인 사업을 하시는 어머니를 둔 "평범한" 가정에서 태어났으며 돈이 많아서 유학을 온 케이스가 전혀 아님을 강조해드리고 싶습니다.
사실 부유한 가정에서 자라신 분들이라면 유학을 가는 것에 부담이 없으실 테지만 저 처럼 "평범한" 가정에서 태어난 사람들도 재정적으로 큰 걱정 없이 충분히 미국에서 유학을 할 수 있다는 점을 저의 경험을 바탕으로 전해드리고 싶습니다. 물론 돈이 전혀 안드는 것은 아닙니다. 여기서 제가 말씀드리는 "평범한"의 기준은 한국에서 충분히 과외받고 학원 다니고 또 사립대학교(ex. 연세대, 고려대, 서강대, 한양대, 성균관대 등등..)를 다니실 수 있는 분들에 한해서 말씀을 드리는 것입니다. 만약 자녀분들이나 혹은 학생 본인들이 유학의 꿈이 있는데 재정적인 사정이 걸려서 유학의 꿈을 포기해야만 한다면 저의 이야기를 통해 미국 유학을 다시 한번 쯤 고려해 보셨으면 좋겠습니다.

Here's a brief introduction of myself and about this blog.
First of all, I am an international student from South Korea studying abroad in America. I came here as a sophomore(10th grade) in high school and now I am a sophomore(2nd year) in college. I used to get asked if I am from a wealthy household every time I say that I study in the U.S., but in my humble opinion, I have never considered myself or my family as rich. I was born in a relatively "normal" household - my father being a salary man, my mother owning her own small business. What I would like to emphasize here is that normal families CAN also afford their children to study abroad in America.
If you are a child from a wealthy family, then you will never have to worry about the costs of studying abroad at all. However, if your family can afford your private educations (getting tutored or going to academy after your school), then you can definitely consider studying abroad in the US. My focus here is how to study abroad with reasonable prices. If your a parent hesitating whether you should send your child to study abroad due to the financial burden or you are a student worrying about costs of studying abroad, then please consider reading my story of how studying abroad can actually be reasonable.
